God is looking for Christians to step out of the four walls of the church and be His example everywhere we go, even where we least expect it. This past week, I was asked by a friend to attend a business meeting out of town. After several hours of travelling, we needed to make a pit stop. The first available exit was Rest Area #10, one I will never forget. It was a miracle stop! As I came out of the stall in the restroom, a woman was leaning up against the wall where the hand dryers were stationed. She was in obvious pain and was using the heat of the hand dryer to blow on her back. I could have just walked past her, but instead felt compelled to stop and ask if she was suffering with back pain. (I know this feeling quite well since I had issues and surgery on my back.) As we began our conversation we realized we had more in common that we thought! I showed her exercises to help ease her pain. To my surprise she got down on the dirty floor and began to do them. She must have been desperate! As this woman lay on the floor of this dirty rest area restroom I asked if I could pray for her. She quickly responded with, “YES!” I just stretched out my hand to the L5 area of her back and prayed. Afterwards, I instructed her how to stand up. I told her how she was to roll on her side and was continuing with my instructions when her face expression changed. She began to ask me, “How am I to get up?” I thought to myself this may be a problem. She slowly positioned her arms to her side and began to push her body up, and soon began crying out with excitement, “Oh, my …oh, my. I can get up… I can move… I can bend!” I thought, well thank God because I could not lift you! She began to walk around and went outside saying. “I am healed! Look at me, I am healed!” She pulled up her shirt and asked, “Is the lump still there? I don’t feel it.” I have never seen this person before in my life and asked her, “What lump? I don’t know?” She finds the lump and I said well let’s pray again and we will believe God will dissolve it! She said, “Ok”. She broke down and began to sob, thanking me and God for the miracle!
Wow! I was so blessed by this and grateful I took the time to care for a hurting person, for God to use me in this way in an unexpected place. I almost missed the opportunity to be a blessing to this woman and God would have missed His appointment to heal her! Obedience is greater than sacrifice. Obedience is the key to someone’s miracle. Be a Christian and make a difference in someone’s life today. You too can make an impact in unexpected places! Be willing to hear and compelled to act. Use this blog to share these unexpected opportunities and places. Jesus always wants to make a difference!
