November Video/Blog

The trips to Costa Rica and France were incredible and God’s divine timing! It has been remarkable and creates a blog worth reading. Let me step back a few weeks to where the journey began. My good friends, the Rolands, invited me to Rodney Howard Brown’s meetings in Tampa. The outpouring of the Spirit of God for the lost was overwhelming! As I watched men weep for those who did not know Christ, I had to ask myself what was wrong with me because I did not share this concern? Had I developed a hard heart? Was I so self-focused? Or was I “ministry ” driven? What were my motives? What was my heart before the Lord?

The books I had been reading prior to this have been very focused on the actions and motives of those in the body of Christ. Some of the thoughts were as follows: could you give it all up to follow the Lord, if the Master had need of it (ie: your money, life, time)? Would you be willing to have radical obedience and obey? WOW! The gospel of prosperity, self-indulgence, self-gratification never prepared me for these questions. However, I believe in the gospel of prosperity and know that this message needed to come forth to the body of Christ so we could believe for finances and favor for the work of the Lord. The problem is that many turned this gospel into one of self-indulgence, which God is now exposing! Do not get me wrong, I believe in prosperity because we can’t preach the gospel and reach the masses without finances. It would be impossible!

Back to the meetings in Tampa. Phillip Smethhurst, founder of Overland Missions spoke in the mornings. I sat spellbound listing to his adventures with Christ in the bush county of Africa. He gave it all up like the Apostle Paul to work for the Lord. No personal agenda. He doesn’t try to rape the church financially for his lifestyle. How refreshing! How radical! He just believes God and trusts in His Word. His dedication to Christ challenged me to step out in faith and believe. How about you? Your dreams? Your desires? His fulfillment for your life? Isn’t it time we begin to shake off the dust and move into the purpose by FAITH?

A few days later, I left for my engagement in Costa Rica. I was speaking for Pastor Dennis Rosales at Maranatha Church in Limon, Costa Rica. We have been friends and co-laborers for 13 years. I was so blessed by this man’s faithfulness to the call. He graduated with an engineering degree and had a successful job. BUT… God had other plans for his life. He was to go back to his small, nonprogressive home town and start a church. In the beginning, it was only his family in attendance. He had to persevere through much to be where he is today. He owns a radio station, television station, the only church in town with air conditioning, he has a successful Christian school, and his children are all in the university or heading that way! He and his wife are great people of faith. They know their God and shall do exploits!

It was amazing to me to see how God has supernaturally supplied for these families and what they have been able to do for the Lord! It made me reflect… am I directing God or is He directing me?

Just a scripture to ponder: Joshua 1:8
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt MEDITATE therein day and night that thou mayest OBSERVE to DO according to ALL that is written therein: for THEN thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Making an Impact in Unexpected Places

God is looking for Christians to step out of the four walls of the church and be His example everywhere we go, even where we least expect it. This past week, I was asked by a friend to attend a business meeting out of town. After several hours of travelling, we needed to make a pit stop. The first available exit was Rest Area #10, one I will never forget. It was a miracle stop!  As I came out of the stall in the restroom, a woman was leaning up against the wall where the hand dryers were stationed. She was in obvious pain and was using the heat of the hand dryer to blow on her back. I could have just walked past her, but instead felt compelled to stop and ask if she was suffering with back pain. (I know this feeling quite well since I had issues and surgery on my back.) As we began our conversation we realized we had more in common that we thought! I showed her exercises to help ease her pain. To my surprise she got down on the dirty floor and began to do them. She must have been desperate! As this woman lay on the floor of this dirty rest area restroom I asked if I could pray for her. She quickly responded with, “YES!” I just stretched out my hand to the L5 area of her back and prayed.  Afterwards, I instructed her how to stand up. I told her how she was to roll on her side and was continuing with my instructions when her face expression changed. She began to ask me, “How am I to get up?” I thought to myself this may be a problem.  She slowly positioned her arms to her side and began to push her body up, and soon began crying out with excitement, “Oh, my …oh, my. I can get up… I can move… I can bend!” I thought, well thank God because I could not lift you! She began to walk around and went outside saying. “I am healed! Look at me, I am healed!” She pulled up her shirt and asked, “Is the lump still there? I don’t feel it.” I have never seen this person before in my life and asked her, “What lump? I don’t know?” She finds the lump and I said well let’s pray again and we will believe God will dissolve it! She said, “Ok”. She broke down and began to sob, thanking me and God for the miracle!

Wow! I was so blessed by this and grateful I took the time to care for a hurting person, for God to use me in this way in an unexpected place. I almost missed the opportunity to be a blessing to this woman and God would have missed His appointment to heal her! Obedience is greater than sacrifice. Obedience is the key to someone’s miracle. Be a Christian and make a difference in someone’s life today.  You too can make an impact in unexpected places! Be willing to hear and compelled to act. Use this blog to share these unexpected opportunities and places.  Jesus always wants to make a difference!

The Conference of Fire

Passion will drive you to do what is unexpected! This past week I attended a conference that ignited my passion for the lost.

I never truly looked at the lives of those in the Bible as men and women of sacrifice. It’s more than just a book filled with great stories that we are to model our lives after. Realizing this, we are to be the continuation of the message, however, we think this process will be easier because of the time we are living. I never really thought about all those, who risk their lives to tell others the good news in this day and time. I heard so many stories of sacrifice for the furtherance of the gospel message. People who would go into the bush of Africa with only a tent, sleeping bag and a Bible to evangelize unreached tribes with a message of hope. Meanwhile, we in the United States debate on the intrusion of being politically correct and try not to offend others.  WOW!  Passion needs to rule our lives as we sell out to our cause and our message.  We should be lovingly millitant for the restortation of mankind to their Creator! We need to give someone the opportunity to object or to accept the message. This is not done alone, but through the power of the Holy Spirit and the angels of heaven who are commissioned to work with us in our mission!

Please make a effort to ask the Lord about your daily assignment. Who does He want you to speak to, pray for, or witness to? Post your results. God will use us to change the world one person at a time. Let the Passion for Christ compel you. Quit making excuses! Just do it! Be one who will sacrifice all to do God’s work!

A Legacy in Central America

Over 10 years we have seen thousands of people saved and transformed by the power of God in Costa Rica! Our teams of youth, college students and families minister to the community and build up the local church. Ministry includes outreach in high schools and working alongside pastors and leaders to develop effective youth and children’s programs. This year we will also be conducting an evangelism crusade in Honduras.

Pastor Dennis from Costa Rica

From Pastor Dennis and Jenury Rosales

Pastor, Maranatha Revival Church, Limon, Costa Rica

Hello, I am pastor Dennis Rosales. I just want to say we have known this wonderful couple, Pastor Duane and Melonie Erickson for more than 10 years now.

From the day we meet, there was like a connection between us and since then they have been coming to Limon, Costa Rica with their team to work alongside us in our city.

They have been coming for all these years and have not asked for anything.  Instead, they alway give to us by helping, loving and ministering the word of God to our lives through their team.

They have been a great blessing not only to our local church but also to our community in so many ways:

  1. Teaching how to do evangelism in the streets and barrios.
  2. Working with the youth of our church in dangerous barrios to reach other youth.
  3. Teaching the way to use puppets to bless the children.
  4. Teaching dramas for street ministry.
  5. Visiting high schools in the city to preach the word of God.
  6. Bringing toys, computers, clothing and many other things to bless our community.
  7. Donating money to our local vision.
  8. Bringing a fresh word to our congregation every time they come to Limon.
  9. Helping in humanitarian outreaches that bring relief to families.
  10. Always willing to help us in whatever we need.

Many families, youth and children have come to know the Lord Jesus Christ because of the obedience of this couple.

But above all, they share their love by loving us with the love of Jesus and showing us how important we are as children of God.

And because of that, we have experienced growth in many different areas of our ministry.  We have grown in the knowledge of what is required to bless our people and establish the kingdom of God in our city. Our youth also have learned how to reach other youth.

We learned how to train and how to organize different activities and outreaches as well as how to mobilize the youth of our church.

God bless Pastor Duane and Melonie Erickson and their team for been such a great blessing for us and our community all these years.

Testimony from France

From Marc Ghioldi

Youth Pastor, Eglise la Bonne Nouvelle, Nice, France

IMPACT youth camps were such a blast in our lives.

During 10 years, those teams coming from the USA under Pastors Duane and Melonie’s leadership invested prayer, time, money and sweat to change french teens’ hearts and challenge them to go further-deeper wit God. They also gave us such a great inspirational exemple.

Results are still visible. Of course some of us turned away along the road (even if they are still speaking about great memories), but so many are now firmly grounded in the Lord, serving (and sometimes leading) in their churches, and enjoying a blessed life in all areas.

From the four points of France and Switzerland, destinies have been changed and so many exemples could be given of those who, having left satan’s kingdom, are now  :

  • free from drugs, addictions and a poor self image
  • married before God and growing kids in their own Christian family (the first in their lineage)
  • leading whole teams in their churches, and inspiring the body of Christ
  • going into the whole world preaching the Good News
  • having great influence for God in business, justice or arts

Last but not least, former French kids are today’s youth leaders in their own area / country, well equipped and faitfhully serving the young generation, pushing the younger to do the same.

This could not have been done without the IMPACT team.
